Goals
Long term goal: the Olympic Games
My goal of the past few years has been set on 'London 2012'. As I now suffer
from a severe injury,
that has already taken half a year of my preparation and is expected to take at
least half a year
more, London 2012 is out of the question. It sure is
hard to see your hard labor NOT paying off.
But... that doesn't mean I am giving up the dream, or
better put, my goal. I want to go to the Olympics!
And whether it will be in 2014 ;) 2016 or
2018 ;) as long as I am reaching it... - and will keep enjoying the
process - I will keep doing
my utter best to reach
my ultimate goal: participate in the Olympics & represent
my country. I'll
be back! Better than ever before!

Longer term goal: (Biggest
dream that I totally go for)
The OLYMPICS
To have the
Games as my goal isn't the easiest goal to set. There has not
been
a Dutch female lifter participating in the Games yet.
Furthermore there hasn't been
a Dutch lifter
participating
since 1968
in Mexico.
That year the Dutch weightlifting legend Piet van der Kruk
became seventh, a historical happening.
Dutch weightlifters participated in 1920, 1924, 1928, 1948, 1952 en 1968 games.
Three
bronze medals were
earned. One by Jan Verheijen (middle weight B),
one by August Scheffer (middle
weight A) in
Amsterdam 1928 and one by
Bram Charité (heavy weight) in London 1948.
I feel it is time for a female lifter to go to the Games and I really prefer
it to be me.
After all... easy goals are boring...
I am far from 'there', so in the meantime I just need to
TRaiN
HaRd
and
FoCuSsSS!
